Description


This 4-day, 16-hour virtual school encompasses all of the necessary disciplines for building a structurally sound water vessel. Topics covered within the school include site analysis, introductory fluid engineering, geotechnical and structural engineering that includes a review of difficult sites, shotcrete, waterproofing, tile, interior finishes, coping, and concrete decking. The course concludes with an interactive walkthrough of a complex project from start to finish. This program is designed to move each student through all phases of concrete pool construction in great detail, unlike anything else offered in the industry. This course fulfills a requirement to become a GENESISĀ® Associate member.

*Virtual Training Information: Additional homework and supplemental studies will be included in the curriculum for students to complete before taking the exam.

Greg Andrews

Greg Andrews is a nationally renowned and award-winning tile contractor and glass mosaic expert. Having completed some of the most intricate and detail-oriented pools in the country, he's well known for his mastery of pool tile installations. While keeping active in installations, Greg's focus in the past decade has gradually turned towards industry involvement in the form of teaching, lecturing, training and consulting. He also manages a Pool Tile Technical Committee through National Tile and Stone Authority, a consulting firm that he co-founded. This level of involvement keeps Greg connected with top tiered tile installers product manufacturers throughout the country, and up to date with the latest in product technology and installation techniques.

Randy Dukes

Dukes is regarded as one of the foremost authorities in the pool plaster industry relating to deterioration, discoloration, and staining phenomenon that are commonly associated with cement-based pool coatings. He has served as a moderator and keynote speaker for many of the National Plasterers Conventions starting in 1992 and has instructed courses on "The Science of Cementitious Pool Finishes, Startups, and Maintenance." Dukes has spent a considerable amount of time traveling throughout the U.S. researching and identifying pool surface problems and their relationship to application, water chemistry, and chemical abuse.

Terry Brannon, P.E.

Brannon began his career in public works, beginning with the Cities of Irving and Tyler, Texas before founding The Brannon Corporation. He continues to specialize in public works projects, but the firm has carved out an aquatic niche using their expertise in water conveyance and treatment and structural design. Brannon is registered in 23 states as a licensed professional engineer. Now in semi-retirement from the engineering consulting business. 50 years total in engineering and 40 years in aquatics, he keeps himself busy sharing his experiences by writing and training engineers and contractors in the design and construction of aquatic facilities from public fountains, to splash pads, water parks, competition venues, lakes and streams, and private pools. He continues as a consultant to various construction management companies, hotels and resorts, municipalities, and branches of the U.S. Department of Defense.

Travis Bozick, P.E.

Travis began his career with The Brannon Corporation in 2005 and currently serves as a Principal and Vice President. He has extensive experience in multi-state aquatic design, including water parks, pools, splash pads, spray grounds, natatoriums, wave pools, and lazy rivers. Travis is a member of the Council for the Model Aquatic Health Code and works with projects focused on safety, health, standard, and swimming pool code compliance for multiple states including ADA pool review, and the Model Aquatic Health Code by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Travis is a registered engineer in multiple states and has a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville.

Skip Phillips, former owner of Questar Pools' and the firm's current principal designer, is one of the world's most renowned designers and builders of custom swimming pools, spas and other forms of aquatic architecture. In 1993, the Robb Report declared Phillips "the world's most influential swimming pool designer" and since then he has received extensive coverage in trade magazines and on T.V., including multiple HGTV appearances, newspapers and prestigious national publications including Better Homes & Gardens, New York Times and Wall Street Journal. He is co-founder of GENESIS and is a charter member of the Society of Watershape Designers. He is widely credited for transforming and uplifting the pool and spa industry. Phillips' body of work includes some of the most beautiful and technically advanced watershapes of the modern era.
